Mechanical Engineer – Maintenance (Chemical Plant)

About the role

We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer to lead maintenance activities for a chemical plant. The role focuses on systematic, efficient, and safe upkeep of equipment while driving cost reductions and performance improvements.

Key responsibilities

• Implement and improve preventive maintenance programs to lower costs and boost equipment reliability.
• Initiate and coordinate Management of Change (MOC) for any additions, modifications, or replacements.
• Assist the Section Manager and Supervisor in daily operational supervision.
• Troubleshoot mechanical equipment and system malfunctions.
• Collaborate with operations to execute daily, weekly, and monthly maintenance schedules.
• Train technicians and staff on maintenance procedures, 5S, and Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) activities.
• Prepare documentation for new projects and liaise with contractors and vendors.
• Manage mechanical and electrical instrument spare parts and tools inventory.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Minimum 3 years of mechanical experience in large‑scale industrial environments (e.g., palm oil mills, food processing, steel, mining, waste management).
• Strong knowledge of mechanical systems design, installation, and maintenance in industrial settings.
