Mechanical Engineer (Semiconductor)

About the role

Applied Materials, a global leader in materials science and engineering solutions for semiconductors and advanced displays, is hiring a Mechanical Engineer in Singapore. The engineer uses a strong foundation in physics, mathematics and materials science to solve mechanical problems, design and implement custom mechanical tooling and processes, and handle, assemble and disassemble parts and assemblies throughout the product life cycle. The work location is Science Park II, moving to the Tampines office from mid-2027.

Key responsibilities

• Identify and troubleshoot difficult mechanical problems with limited supervision
• Define, coordinate, perform and document engineering test reports with limited supervision
• Design, develop or modify mechanical layouts, schematics and detailed drawings/specifications
• Perform engineering analysis of difficult scope and technically lead or execute engineering projects, including supplier development
• Generate mechanical product specifications
• Design, develop and implement custom mechanical tooling, fixturing and associated processes for handling, assembly and disassembly of parts and assemblies
• Establish standards across operational processes and specify and review engineering documentation
• Implement solutions for complex product issues and mechanical problems

Required profile

• PhD, Master's or Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering
• A few years of experience in semiconductor equipment design or troubleshooting
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to work with diverse internal and external stakeholders
• Self-starting, proactive and resourceful
