Medical Technologist – Junior Clinical Laboratory

About the role

Reporting to the Laboratory Manager, the Medical Technologist will perform a wide range of laboratory tests across multiple disciplines to support disease prevention, diagnosis, treatment and patient monitoring. The role involves operating sophisticated instruments, ensuring quality and safety, and collaborating with clinicians and laboratory staff.

Key responsibilities

• Perform pre‑analytical, analytical and post‑analytical activities, including instrument calibration, maintenance and troubleshooting.
• Operate and maintain laboratory instrumentation in molecular diagnostics, biochemistry, haematology, immunology, serology and microbiology.
• Execute procedures in accordance with SOPs and the Laboratory Safety Manual, reporting critical values promptly.
• Manage inventory, conduct technical validation, and maintain competence in the Laboratory Information System (LIS).
• Participate in quality improvement programs and provide phlebotomy and onsite screening support as needed.

Required profile

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Good general health with no colour‑blindness.
• BSc in Biomedical Science, Medical Laboratory Science or equivalent.
• Minimum of 3 years’ clinical laboratory experience preferred.
• Professional attitude, high accuracy and willingness to perform shift duties.
