Medical Writer – Clinical Documentation

About the role

Emerald Clinical Trials is seeking a Medical Writer to research, write, and edit a range of clinical documents, including study reports, protocols, investigator brochures, and scientific manuscripts. The role supports the development of drugs, biologics, medical devices, and other health products by applying therapeutic expertise and clinical development knowledge.

Key responsibilities

• Independently draft, review and edit routine clinical documents such as protocols, CSRs and IBs.
• Interpret non‑clinical and clinical data to prepare technical reports.
• Conduct literature searches and systematic reviews.
• Coordinate report specifications and data analysis within project teams.
• Schedule and perform peer and team quality‑control reviews.
• Collaborate with functional leaders and project managers to meet timelines.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Life Sciences, Health‑related Sciences or a related field.
• 2–4 years of scientific or medical writing experience, preferably in a pharmaceutical company or CRO.
• Familiarity with medical and clinical research terminology.
• Fluent in written and spoken English; ability to draft English documents independently.
• Basic experience in clinical study design and protocol development.

Required skills

• Strong background in clinical medicine or pharmaceutical sciences.
• Knowledge of ICH‑GCP, NMPA/FDA regulatory requirements and ICH CSR writing guidelines.
• Understanding of the full clinical‑trial process and basic statistical principles.
• Proficiency in English and Chinese (reading and writing).
• Competence with PC‑Windows environment and Microsoft Word.
