Photonic Test Engineer

About the role

HyperLight is a company at the forefront of commercialising thin-film lithium niobate (TFLN) integrated photonics, which enables high-performance optical components for AI/datacom, hyperscale computing, quantum computing and sensing. Its TFLN Chiplet platform is modular and scalable, and the company is looking for motivated Photonic Test Engineers who enjoy problem solving. The role focuses on measurement, test and analysis at wafer level and device level.

Key responsibilities

• Define and implement die-level and wafer-level test solutions with design and product teams.
• Develop production test solutions for PIC components to ensure manufacturability and scalability.
• Run design verification tests, analyse results and give feedback to improve device performance.
• Optimise and standardise test and analysis methods to improve repeatability and accuracy.
• Operate automated wafer-level test (WLT) probers and chip-level handlers for passive and active optical and RF components, and perform routine calibration and quality control.
• Collect measurement data, prepare reports for optical, electrical and electro-optical tests, and run GR&R studies and troubleshooting.
• Document procedures, results and reports to build a knowledge base.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Photonics, Physics or a related field.
• 2-5+ years of experience testing and characterising photonic or semiconductor devices; fresh graduates with strong academic or project experience are encouraged to apply.
• Solid understanding of optical, RF or electro-optic measurements.
• Knowledge of semiconductor fabrication and photonics principles is a plus; experience with foundries or OSATs is a plus.
• Proficiency in English and Mandarin, as the role involves frequent collaboration with a global team.

Required skills

• Strong Python programming, including test automation scripts and instrument interfacing/control (SCPI, VISA, GPIB).
• Analytical and problem-solving skills, precise report writing.
