Postdoc/Research Fellow - Electrolyte and Materials Interfaces for Batteries

About the role

The School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering at Nanyang Technological University (NTU) is looking for a highly motivated Postdoctoral or Research Fellow to lead independent research in next-generation electrochemical energy systems. The role sits within the EI2 Lab, which studies ion conductors and their interfaces with other materials, aiming to control ion and electron transport and chemo-electro-mechanical behaviour at those interfaces. The fellowship supports interdisciplinary collaboration across materials science, electrochemistry and mechanics, and mentoring of graduate and undergraduate students.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct advanced research on solid-state batteries, high-energy batteries and materials synthesis.
• Develop materials for electronic devices such as sensors, semiconductors, switches and transistors.
• Design and perform electrochemical, mechanical and advanced materials characterisation.
• Collaborate with internal and external academic and industrial partners on joint projects.
• Prepare manuscripts for high-impact journal publications and present at international conferences.
• Contribute to grant proposal writing and new project development.
• Mentor and supervise PhD, Master's and undergraduate students in the laboratory.

Required profile

• PhD or conferring PhD in Materials Science, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• At least 3 years of relevant experience in a similar role, or hands-on experience in materials synthesis, electrochemical testing and advanced characterisation.
• Proven track record of high-quality research publications in high-impact journals.
• Good written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in an interdisciplinary team.
