Postdoctoral Research Fellow – Asian Urbanisms Cluster

About the role

The Asia Research Institute at the National University of Singapore invites outstanding scholars to join the Asian Urbanisms Cluster as Postdoctoral Research Fellows for the FY2027/28 period. Fellows will pursue cutting‑edge humanities and social science research on urban issues in Asia, contributing to the cluster’s thematic priorities and collaborative projects.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct independent research and publish findings in high‑impact journals.
• Organise and lead workshops, seminars and conferences related to urban studies.
• Participate actively in cluster projects and interdisciplinary collaborations.
• Develop new research initiatives, including preparation of competitive grant proposals.
• Undertake administrative duties and serve on internal committees as required.

Required profile

• PhD awarded by a recognised university in a relevant discipline (or confirmed graduation by start date).
• Strong publication record and international scholarly visibility.
• Demonstrated experience in collaborative research and engagement with external funding agencies.
• Ability to work independently under the supervision of the Cluster Leader.
