Principal Architect

About the role

YouTrip is looking for a Principal Architect to own the technical architecture of its core systems across the consumer (YouTrip) and business (YouBiz) platforms. This senior individual‑contributor role reports directly to the CPTO and serves as the deepest technical voice on system design, engineering standards, and performance.

Key responsibilities

• Define and maintain the architectural vision for all core systems, balancing technical correctness with pragmatic delivery.
• Lead company‑wide architectural decisions from high‑level system design to component‑level trade‑offs.
• Establish and enforce coding and development standards that raise quality across the engineering organisation.
• Produce precise, opinionated architectural documentation used by product teams.
• Act as the internal authority on payment‑systems architecture, real‑time financial processing, ledger design, and card‑scheme integrations.
• Drive architectural decisions across acquiring, issuing, FX, clearing, and settlement systems.
• Anticipate regulatory, scheme, and processor requirements and design systems proactively.
• Identify and mitigate architectural risks before they become operational incidents.
• Own system‑level performance, scalability, and technical trade‑offs.

Required profile

• Senior individual contributor with a track record of writing production‑grade code at scale.
• Deep experience in fintech or payments domains, including knowledge of ledger, settlement, and card‑scheme integrations.
• Strong understanding of regulatory and compliance implications for financial systems.
• Ability to communicate complex architectural concepts clearly to engineering teams.
