Principal Engineer - Module Engineering

About the role

GlobalFoundries, a full-service semiconductor foundry, is hiring a Principal Engineer for its module engineering team in Singapore. The role works closely with the Process Engineer sponsor to support 24/7 operations and owns the process layer, including troubleshooting, qualification and continuous improvement.

Key responsibilities

• Handle post-equipment preventive maintenance and tool-down recovery qualification, assess impacted lots and follow procedures, updating work instructions and SOPs with the Process Engineer sponsor
• Support process qualification and lot disposition, and back up the on-duty shift personnel and Process Engineer sponsor for 24/7 operations
• Follow up on outstanding issues and liaise with external vendors for problem escalation
• Maintain and improve Process KPIs in safety, quality, delivery, customer and people
• Own process-layer improvement projects and qualifications, using data analysis to present change requests to the Change Request Board
• Coach and train module process personnel
• Work safely and support environmental, health, safety and security requirements

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical, electrical, material, chemical or a similar engineering field
• 9 years of experience
• Hands-on experience troubleshooting photolithography or metrology process abnormalities and applying engineering methods for process control, improvement and development
• Practical knowledge of 24/7 semiconductor manufacturing and cleanroom environments
• Ability to work normal or swing shifts (5 days a week, e.g. Sunday-Thursday or Tuesday-Saturday)
• Strong project management, data analysis and problem-solving skills, and excellent oral and written communication

Required skills

• Preferred: expert knowledge of photolithography or metrology tools such as Nikon scanners, TEL tracks, Hitachi CDSEM, KLA Archer OVL, EVG/SVG litho tools, and defect scanners
• Preferred: SPC, OCAP, FDC, RTM, RMS, APC, DOE, Minitab, defect and yield analysis software, FMEA, 8D, Fishbone, 6S and risk assessment
• Basic equipment and photolithography process knowledge with an eye for detail
• Literate in MS Office and computers
