Principal Engineer, Technology

About the role

Pratt & Whitney, an RTX business, is looking for a Principal Engineer, Technology to work onsite at its Seletar Aerospace Park location in Singapore. The role acts as a thought leader and advocate for RTX, building and leading industry-academia collaboration and technology development projects.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as a thought leader and advocate for RTX, strengthening strategic collaborations with A*STAR, universities, academic institutions and research organisations.
• Establish, develop and maintain partnerships with A*STAR and key academic and research institutions to advance industry-academia collaboration.
• Develop and lead strategic research and technology projects aligned with RTX's business and technology priorities, overseeing a portfolio of academic collaboration projects.
• Identify emerging technologies and research trends in academia with applications across aerospace, defence and related industries, and integrate research outcomes into RTX's technology development pipeline.
• Ensure compliance with intellectual property agreements, research contracts, funding requirements and regulatory requirements.
• Mentor senior engineers and team members involved in research, technology development and academic collaboration.
• Support the Pratt & Whitney Singapore Technology Accelerator team by leading technology development projects from concept through implementation, within scope, schedule and budget, while meeting regulatory, safety and quality standards.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Science, Technology, Business or a related field.
• At least 10 years of experience in engineering, R&D, technology development or technology leadership roles.
• Demonstrated experience leading large-scale, cross-functional research or technology projects, including collaborations with government agencies, academic institutions or research organisations.
• Ability to lead complex technical initiatives and turn research outcomes into practical technology or business applications.
• Strong passion for innovation, emerging technologies and industry-academia collaboration.

Preferred qualifications

• Master's degree in a related field.
• Experience in aerospace, defence, advanced manufacturing or related technology sectors.
• Strategic leadership, advanced technical knowledge, and strong communication, stakeholder management and negotiation skills.
• Experience securing or managing research funding, research agreements and intellectual property arrangements.
• Program management skills for running multiple complex projects at once.
