Principal Test Engineer - Photonics

About the role

GlobalFoundries, a full-service semiconductor foundry, is looking for a highly experienced and detail-oriented Principal Test Engineer. The role oversees testing resources so that PDK development and customer testing services deliver consistent, reliable results, by standardizing test methodology and procedure. It involves managing photonics testing instruments, developing test plans and procedures and working closely with design engineers to identify and resolve issues throughout the development lifecycle.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and manage the testing team by allocating resources, setting priorities and assigning roles and responsibilities.
• Define the testing strategy and develop test plans based on project requirements and timelines.
• Ensure testing resources are budgeted and that testing tools are maintained in optical condition.
• Drive new test capability setup and prepare documentation to standardize the new test procedure.
• Work with the project team to ensure devices meet specifications and verify their performance.
• Support the shift from hands-on process measurement to high-volume automatic manufacturing test platforms.
• Support the test tool efficiency improvement project through testing automation.
• Mentor and train team members to support their professional growth.

Required profile

• Ph.D. or master's degree in photonics, electrical engineering, physics or a related field.
• Practical knowledge of optical science and/or photonics technology.
• Practical knowledge of electrical and optical measurement of optical chip devices and systems.
• Strong oral and written communication skills and the ability to work in a team-oriented environment.
• Accountability, ownership, multitasking and prioritization; ability to plan and complete experimental projects.
