Product Development Director, APAC

About the role

Aviva Investors, the global asset management business of Aviva plc, is recruiting a Product Development Director to lead the design and delivery of investment products across the APAC region. Reporting to the Global Head of Product and working closely with the Head of APAC, the role leads all product-related activity and helps drive the 1-3 year product roadmap by market and client segment.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct opportunity assessments, competitor and market analysis, and define product positioning across APAC, with a focus on Japan's investment landscape, investor preferences and regulatory requirements.
• Identify gaps in the current offering and recommend solutions across equities, fixed income, multi-asset, real assets, private credit and alternatives.
• Lead feasibility assessments for new products and changes to existing ranges, backed by robust commercial cases.
• Oversee the launch of new funds and product changes, ensuring strong risk management, operational readiness and positive customer outcomes.
• Maintain awareness of APAC regulatory standards, especially Japan-specific structures such as investment trusts, disclosure rules and licensing requirements.
• Serve on the Product Leadership team and partner with the Head of APAC, regional Distribution teams and global Investment teams.
• Lead project management of fund launches, closures, mergers, restructures and operational changes.

Required profile

• Strong regulatory and product delivery knowledge across APAC, including Australia, Singapore, Korea, Taiwan and Japan.
• Solid understanding of ESG product frameworks and sustainable-investing requirements in APAC.
• Proven experience delivering product changes, including fund launches, mergers, restructures and wind-downs/closures.
• Ability to lead complex, cross-border projects with investment, distribution, legal, risk, operations and marketing teams; CFA/CAIA/IMC qualifications welcomed but not essential.
