Project Officer / Research Fellow (Cathode)
ntu · NTU Main Campus
Job description
About the role
The School of Materials Science and Engineering (MSE) at NTU is looking for a Project Officer / Research Fellow to design and synthesize metal–organic frameworks (MOFs) with tailored redox activity and, ideally, intrinsic electrical conductivity for advanced energy storage systems. The work involves developing and characterizing novel MOF-based materials to explore their electrochemical and electrocatalytic properties across a wide range of energy storage technologies, including but not limited to Li-ion and Zn-aqueous batteries.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and optimize synthetic routes for redox-active and conductive MOFs.
- Investigate the electrochemical performance of these materials under diverse conditions and in various energy storage configurations.
- Study electrocatalytic behavior and charge-storage mechanisms to establish structure-property relationships.
- Fabricate and evaluate electrodes incorporating the synthesized MOFs to assess their performance in energy storage devices.
- Integrate MOFs into next-generation proof-of-concept energy devices and evaluate their potential in sustainable energy applications.
- Prepare and deliver meeting presentations, notes, updates and reports as requested by the academic project.
Required profile
- Bachelor's or PhD in Materials Science, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or a related field.
- Proven research experience in electrochemistry, materials for energy storage or electrocatalysis.
- Demonstrated experience in electrode fabrication and electrochemical testing (e.g. CV, EIS, GCD).
- Track record of publications in reputable, peer-reviewed journals.
- Team player with good communication, writing and interpersonal skills, able to work both independently and under pressure with tight deadlines.
Required skills
- Strong background in the design, synthesis and characterization of MOFs or related porous materials.
- Knowledge of scientific software or materials modelling tools (e.g. Origin, MATLAB, COMSOL) is preferred.
