Project Officer – Research Lab Operations & Safety

About the role

The Corporate Lab at the Energy Research Institute @ NTU, a joint venture between NTU, A*STAR and ExxonMobil, seeks a Project Officer (or Senior Project Officer) to support both administrative and laboratory operations. You will help maintain a safe, organized, and compliant environment for over 50 researchers across five programmes.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain up‑to‑date records of project deliverables, KPIs, milestones, staffing lists and IP disclosures.
• Coordinate logistics for governance meetings, technical reviews and stakeholder visits, including agenda preparation and minutes.
• Manage the chemical inventory: labeling, storage, tracking and disposal in line with NTU EHS and Singapore WSH regulations.
• Serve as Laboratory Safety Officer – conduct regular safety audits, identify hazards and report findings.
• Ensure all lab users complete mandatory EHS training, inductions and site‑specific briefings.
• Maintain safety documentation such as SOPs, Risk Assessments and SDS.
• Oversee procurement, maintenance and servicing of lab equipment, liaising with vendors and facilities teams.
• Control lab access, manage onboarding/off‑boarding of authorised users, and support general housekeeping.

Required profile

• Experience in project administration within a research or industrial laboratory setting.
• Strong knowledge of laboratory safety standards, NTU EHS policies and Singapore WSH Act.
• Excellent organisational and communication skills, with ability to coordinate multiple stakeholders.
