R&D Process Engineer (Etch)

About the role

Applied Materials, a global leader in materials engineering solutions for display and semiconductor chips, is hiring an R&D Process Engineer (Etch) in Singapore. The engineer designs and optimizes manufacturing processes, collects and analyzes data, performs hardware characterization, measures film properties, generates technical documentation and works with customers and vendors. The work location is Science Park II.

Key responsibilities

• Design, collect data, analyze and compile reports on complex process engineering experiments for multiple products, within safety guidelines.
• Characterize hardware, define methods and apply new technologies to characterize hardware or perform hardware characterization on complex systems.
• Generate internal and external documentation, presentations, technical reports and process engineering specifications.
• Develop, plan and execute process engineering projects within safety guidelines.
• Train engineers in film property measurement techniques, guide them in interpreting data and troubleshooting, and resolve complex process engineering issues.
• Interact with customers to resolve process engineering issues with limited to no supervision.
• Design and implement new technology, products and analytical instrumentation.
• Identify, select and work with vendors and suppliers with limited to no supervision.

Required profile

• PhD, Master's or Bachelor's degree in Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Physics or a related field.
• At least 2 years of relevant experience in semiconductor, including plasma etch process development.
• A research focus in semiconductors is an added advantage.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills, problem-solving attitude and a quality mindset.

The position is full-time, with travel of about 10% of the time and no relocation eligibility.
