Research Assistant/Associate – Health Data Science

About the role

The Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine at Nanyang Technological University is seeking a Research Assistant or Associate to join a multidisciplinary project on climate‑ and behaviour‑sensitive infectious diseases such as dengue, syphilis and SARS‑CoV‑2. You will work in a collaborative laboratory environment, supporting the development of statistical and mathematical models that inform public health strategies.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and validate models to assess transmissibility of infectious diseases.
• Conduct literature reviews to inform model assumptions.
• Analyse data using statistical and data‑science techniques.
• Prepare reports, presentations, and draft manuscripts for peer‑reviewed journals.
• Generate research questions and design experiments.
• Collaborate with national and international research teams.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree (for Assistant) or Master’s degree (for Associate) in a relevant field.
• 0–2 years of experience in epidemiology, mathematical modelling, or health data science.
• Strong interest in infectious disease research and ability to communicate findings clearly.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to work independently with attention to detail and good organisational skills.
• Comfortable working in a diverse, large research team.

Required skills

• Proficiency in statistical software such as R.
• Proficiency in Python for data analysis and modelling.
