Research Assistant/Associate – Systems Neuroscience

About the role

We are seeking a Research Assistant or Associate to join the Nair group at the Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine, NTU Singapore. The role focuses on investigating how neural circuits process emotional states using cutting‑edge experimental tools and AI‑driven data modelling.

Key responsibilities

• Collect large‑scale neural activity data and lead an independent research project.
• Assist with laboratory management, including purchasing, budgeting and grant administration.
• Prepare and contribute to grant applications and conference presentations.
• Write and draft research manuscripts for top neuroscience journals in collaboration with the team.
• Participate in weekly lab meetings and journal clubs, presenting data or papers as required.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s (Research Assistant) or Master’s (Research Associate) degree in life sciences, neuroscience, computational biology, psychology or related fields.
• Interdisciplinary backgrounds are welcome.
• Experience with stereotaxic surgery and neural recording in murine models is highly advantageous.
• Familiarity with large‑scale neural datasets (imaging, electrophysiology, behavioural video) is preferred but not mandatory.
• Competent in information visualization; knowledge of Adobe Illustrator is a strong plus.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary environment.
