Research Associate – Child Developmental Psychology

About the role

The Early Mental Potential & Wellbeing Research Centre (EMPOWER) at NTU seeks a Research Associate to support interdisciplinary projects focused on early childhood development. Working under Professor Victoria Leong, you will contribute to both basic and translational research aimed at enhancing neurodevelopmental trajectories during sensitive periods.

Key responsibilities

• Recruit participants, collect and manage data, and perform basic data analysis.
• Design and validate novel cognitive tasks for early childhood assessment.
• Code video and audio recordings to analyse parent‑infant social interaction and synchrony.
• Mentor graduate and undergraduate research projects.
• Provide administrative and research support to the PI and collaborators.
• Lead the setup and execution of experiments, ensuring protocol compliance.
• Develop relationships with clinicians and professionals to advance project goals.
• Plan and run focus groups with parents, clinicians, and stakeholders.
• Maintain accurate participant data in line with university policies.
• Assist in data analysis, report preparation, and presentation of findings.
• Monitor project timelines, milestones, and prepare regular progress reports.

Required profile

• Master's degree in Psychology, Neuroscience, Biomedical Engineering, Medical Sciences or a related technical/computational field.
• Experience collecting human psychological data, particularly with infants and families.
• Efficient, organised, self‑motivated, and able to meet tight deadlines.
• Strong team player with excellent interpersonal and communication abilities.
