Research Associate – Diffusion Models & State‑Space Inference

About the role

The Nanyang Technological University (NTU) College of Computing and Data Science seeks a motivated Research Associate to advance cutting‑edge work on diffusion models and state‑space inference. You will join a vibrant research community focused on AI, data science, and computing.

Key responsibilities

• Read, understand, and summarise recent literature on diffusion models, especially for sampling from un‑normalized probability distributions.
• Review and summarise state‑of‑the‑art research on inference in state‑space models using particle filters.
• Design, implement, and analyse new inference methods based on diffusion models.
• Publish findings in reputable international journals and conferences.
• Present results and build research networks at international conferences.
• Participate in internal events such as reading groups and seminars.

Required profile

• Preferably a Master’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electronics Engineering or a related field.
• Independent, highly analytical, proactive and able to work well in a team.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Demonstrated ability to conduct innovative research and formulate hypotheses.
• Willingness to adapt novel ideas and collaborate across multidisciplinary teams.

Required skills

• Knowledge of diffusion models and their application to probability sampling.
• Understanding of particle filters and state‑space model inference.
• Ability to design and implement experimental methods and evaluate theoretical properties.
