Research Associate – Dynamic Pricing & Data Analytics

About the role

We are seeking a Research Associate to join the Division of Information Technology and Operations Management at Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. The role focuses on developing dynamic pricing models for multi‑flight airlines, building empirical models of pricing volatility on customer loyalty, and analysing large airline transaction datasets.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement a competitive dynamic pricing model for multi‑flight airlines that can be deployed in practice.
• Construct an empirical model to assess the impact of dynamic pricing volatility on customer loyalty.
• Process and curate a 20 GB airline transaction database (2017‑2019) for model validation.
• Develop demand‑unconstrained models and apply them to real‑world data.
• Collaborate with the PI/Co‑PIs to author research papers for top conferences and journals in operations management and data science.

Required profile

• Minimum Master by Research, near‑completion PhD, or PhD in Operations Management with strong background in stochastic optimisation and Markov Decision Process modelling.
• At least two years of relevant research or technical experience.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a fast‑paced academic environment.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Python, R, and MATLAB.
• Experience with stochastic optimisation and Markov Decision Process (MDP) modelling.
• Good understanding of machine learning, reinforcement learning, and large language models.
