Research Associate – Multifunctional Concrete

About the role

The School of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Nanyang Technological University seeks a Research Associate to advance multifunctional concrete technologies. You will work within an interdisciplinary team developing smart, low‑carbon cementitious materials for energy harvesting and storage applications.

Key responsibilities

• Design, fabricate, and characterize multifunctional cementitious materials and concrete systems for energy harvesting and storage.
• Conduct laboratory experiments involving cementitious composites, nanomaterials, electrochemical measurements, and performance evaluation.
• Perform material characterization and data analysis using advanced experimental techniques and analytical tools.
• Develop experimental methodologies, test protocols, and research workflows for ongoing projects.
• Prepare high‑quality journal manuscripts, review papers, technical reports, and conference presentations.
• Support project management activities, including procurement, laboratory safety compliance, and documentation.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary researchers, industry partners, and international collaborators.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Civil Engineering, Materials Science, or a related engineering discipline.
• Experience in experimental design, material fabrication, advanced characterization, and data analysis.
• Proven ability to publish scientific results in peer‑reviewed journals.
• Strong motivation to work in a multidisciplinary, international research environment.
