Research Associate – Processing-in-Memory Architectures

About the role

The College of Computing and Data Science at Nanyang Technological University seeks a Research Associate to advance next‑generation computing hardware. The role focuses on memory‑centric acceleration, designing and implementing advanced architectures that bridge hardware and software for scientific and AI workloads.

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop Processing‑in‑Memory (PIM) architectures, especially using emerging memory technologies such as ReRAM.
• Implement and optimise hardware acceleration solutions for scientific computing algorithms (e.g., AMG, Conjugate Gradient, SpMV) and AI workloads.
• Conduct hardware‑software co‑design, covering architecture design, dataflow optimisation, and system integration.
• Develop novel mapping strategies and dataflow scheduling techniques to improve performance, energy efficiency, and reliability.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or a related discipline.
• Strong background in computer architecture, hardware acceleration, or high‑performance computing.
• Experience with Processing‑in‑Memory, ReRAM, or other emerging memory technologies is highly preferred.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary research environment.
