Research Associate (Psychology/Sociology/Education)

About the role

The Centre for Research and Development in Learning at Nanyang Technological University (CRADLE@NTU) is looking for a Research Associate with a Master's degree in Psychology, Sociology, Education or a related field from a university of good standing. The post oversees the day-to-day running of a research project on vertical leadership development for school leadership professional development.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee the day-to-day operations of the research project.
• Liaise closely with stakeholders from schools and project collaborators.
• Conduct literature reviews and prepare policy reports for stakeholders.
• Prepare and update ethics documents for the Institutional Review Board.
• Recruit participants.
• Collect data through interviews at three time points, field observations and document analysis, together with the Principal Investigator and research team.
• Analyse data and manage data analysis pipelines under the supervision of the PI and the contracting school division.
• Handle research-related administration, such as purchasing materials and equipment.
• Carry out other duties as required by the Principal Investigator.

Required profile

• Masters degree in Psychology, Sociology, Education or a related field from a university of good standing.
• Excellent communication skills and good command of English to write literature reviews and progress reports.
• Self-motivated, able to work independently to collect and analyse data and communicate findings.
• Willing to travel to school sites for data collection.
• Excellent organisational skills and ability to work within tight deadlines.
• Prior experience with qualitative research methods.
• Prior teaching experience at MOE schools and prior experience with academic publication processes are a bonus.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
• Experience with NVivo software.
• Good knowledge of qualitative research methods and appreciation of leadership and management theories.
