Research Associate – Random Lasing

About the role

The School of Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering at NTU is seeking a Research Associate to contribute to its Random Lasing research programme. The role involves experimental optics work, development of novel optical instrumentation, and collaboration with internal and external partners.

Key responsibilities

• Design and conduct experiments in random lasing, spectroscopy and optical imaging.
• Develop and optimise metrology and instrumentation for optical studies.
• Coordinate research activities with NTU collaborators and external partners under the supervision of Principal Investigators.
• Mentor graduate students and assist research fellows.
• Prepare research reports, draft project proposals and publish findings in international journals.
• Present results at academic conferences and contribute to the centre’s visibility.
• Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations in the laboratory.

Required profile

• PhD or equivalent experience in optics, photonics or a related engineering discipline.
• Strong background in experimental optics and optical instrumentation.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary research team.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills in English.
