Research Engineer – Carbon Capture, Utilisation & Storage

About the role

The Singapore Institute of Technology seeks a Research Engineer to support a project developing a Singapore‑calibrated, risk‑aware modelling framework for cross‑border CO₂ maritime transport. You will work with a multidisciplinary team on techno‑economic models, uncertainty analysis, machine learning surrogates and a web‑based calculator.

Key responsibilities

• Collect, clean, organise and analyse data on CO₂ maritime transport, port operations, liquefaction, storage and logistics.
• Build and maintain a parameter registry with sources, assumptions, ranges and confidence ratings.
• Develop and validate a bottom‑up techno‑economic analysis model for CO₂ maritime transport.
• Conduct uncertainty, scenario and sensitivity analyses for Singapore‑linked CO₂ corridors.
• Create machine‑learning surrogate models for rapid cost screening.
• Prepare technical reports, figures, presentations, journal manuscripts and conference materials.
• Support student projects in data processing, model testing and visualisation.
• Assist in project coordination, progress reporting and research administration.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Energy Systems, Data Science, Computer Science, Environmental Engineering, Maritime Engineering or related field.
• Proficient in Python and experienced in data analysis, scientific computing or software development.
• Ability to work independently and within a multidisciplinary research team.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
