Research Fellow – Environmental Sciences

About the role

The Wetland Carbon Lab at NTU’s Asian School of the Environment seeks a highly motivated Research Fellow to lead eddy covariance data analysis for greenhouse gas flux research in Southeast Asian wetlands.

Key responsibilities

• Perform regular QA/QC of eddy covariance and meteorological data and produce monthly reports.
• Improve, standardize, and automate EC pre‑ and post‑processing workflows, including flux calculation, filtering, gap‑filling, partitioning and uncertainty estimation.
• Prepare and contribute to peer‑reviewed publications, research proposals, technical reports and present findings at scientific meetings.
• Support development of a Southeast Asian flux tower network through data harmonization and partner engagement.

Required profile

• PhD in Environmental Science, Atmospheric Science, Micrometeorology, Biogeochemistry, Ecology or a closely related field.
• Strong experience with eddy covariance measurements of CO₂, CH₄ and energy fluxes.
• Excellent scientific communication and interpersonal skills; proactive, independent and team‑oriented.

Required skills

• In‑depth knowledge of eddy covariance theory, instrumentation and standard processing software.
• Analytical and modelling skills using R or Python, with experience building automated, reproducible data pipelines.
