Research Engineer / Research Fellow in Material Science & Engineering

About the role

We are seeking a motivated Material Science and Engineering Engineer to lead the development and testing of materials for various applications. The role involves researching, developing, testing, and processing metals, plastics, and ceramics to improve product performance.

Key responsibilities

• Lead material selection, development, and characterization for electronics, aerospace, or biomedical devices.
• Design and execute experiments to evaluate mechanical, thermal, and chemical properties.
• Conduct root‑cause investigations of material failures and recommend corrective actions.
• Optimize manufacturing processes such as casting and coating, and qualify suppliers with minimal supervision.
• Collaborate with design, manufacturing, and supply‑chain teams and deliver technical reports and presentations.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Materials Science/Engineering or related field.
• 2+ years of experience in materials R&D or product development.
• Hands‑on experience with materials characterization techniques (SEM, XRD, FTIR, mechanical testing).
• Proficiency in data analysis tools (Python, MATLAB, JMP) and technical documentation.
• Strong analytical, communication, and problem‑solving skills.

Required skills

• SEM/EDS, XRD, DSC/TGA, tensile/impact testing.
• CAD/CAE tools: SolidWorks, ANSYS, DFM/DFA principles.
• Software: Thermo‑Calc, Materials Studio, Python, MATLAB, JMP.
• Knowledge of industry standards (ASTM, ISO) and regulatory frameworks (ISO 13485).
• Experience with additive manufacturing, thin‑film deposition, or polymer processing.
