Research Engineer/Fellow – Applied Artificial Intelligence

About the role

The Singapore Institute of Technology is expanding its applied AI research capabilities and seeks a Research Engineer/Fellow to work on industry‑relevant AI projects across multiple sectors. You will collaborate with the centre head, principal investigators and external partners to deliver impactful AI solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Support and drive applied research and innovation initiatives, delivering outcomes that generate impact or revenue for industry partners.
• Understand partner requirements, prepare proposals, and help create intellectual property from internal grants.
• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including other higher‑learning institutions, to advance AI projects.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field with AI/ML experience.
• 8+ years of experience as a Machine Learning Engineer (or 1‑3 years for research‑engineer level) and strong knowledge of industry practices.
• Demonstrated ability to develop software solutions, write technical documentation and stay current with AI advancements.

Required skills

• Programming: Python, R, Java, C/C++/C#.
• AI/ML frameworks: TensorFlow, PyTorch, Keras, Scikit‑Learn, Caffe, CNTK, Spark ML.
• Big‑data technologies: Apache Hadoop, Spark.
• Specialised AI areas: Computer Vision, Image Processing, Large Language Models, Multimodal Models, Generative AI, Trustworthy AI, Edge AI, Physics‑informed Neural Networks, Time‑series modelling, Bayesian methods, Graph Neural Networks, Digital twins, Simulation.
• Additional: Video Analytics, Natural Language Processing, MLOps/DevOps.
