Research Fellow - Computational Modeling of X-ray Nanophotonics

About the role

The School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering at Nanyang Technological University (NTU) is seeking a Research Fellow to lead research in the computational and theoretical modeling of free-electron-driven X-ray nanophotonics. The work sits within the L. J. Wong Group on X-ray and Free Electron Quantum Nanophotonics, which is described as one of the leading research groups in X-ray photonics. The fellow works closely with experimentalists and studies coherent X-ray emission from free-electron-driven van der Waals materials, with the aim of using this platform for table-top X-ray phase-contrast imaging.

Key responsibilities

• Develop theoretical and numerical frameworks for free-electron-driven X-ray nanophotonics, modeling the physics of free electrons impinging on nanomaterials such as van der Waals crystals and the subsequent coherent X-ray emission processes.
• Lead papers and publish in high-impact journals.
• Present at top-tier international conferences.

Required profile

• PhD degree in physics, engineering or a related field.
• Familiarity with electrodynamics and electromagnetism.
• Knowledge of quantum physics or quantum electrodynamics is a plus.
