Research Fellow - Electrolyte and Materials Interfaces for Batteries

About the role

The School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering at Nanyang Technological University (NTU) is looking for a highly motivated Research Fellow to lead independent research in next-generation electrochemical energy systems. The role supports interdisciplinary collaboration across materials science, electrochemistry and mechanics, and mentors graduate and undergraduate students. It focuses on solid-state batteries, interfacial chemistry, electro-chemo-mechanics and novel energy materials.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct advanced research on solid-state batteries, high-energy batteries and materials synthesis
• Develop materials for electronic devices such as sensors, semiconductors, switches and transistors
• Design and perform electrochemical, mechanical and advanced materials characterisation
• Collaborate with internal and external academic and industrial partners on joint projects
• Prepare manuscripts for high-impact journal publications and present at international conferences
• Contribute to grant proposal writing and new project development
• Mentor and supervise PhD, Master's and undergraduate students in the laboratory

Required profile

• PhD in Materials Science, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a related field
• At least 3 years of relevant experience or hands-on experience in materials synthesis, electrochemical testing and advanced characterisation
• Familiarity with electrochemistry and battery research
• Proven track record of high-quality research publications in peer-reviewed journals
• Good written and oral communication skills, project management competence and ability to work independently and in an interdisciplinary team
• International experience with a strong regional network; entry-level candidates are welcome
