Research Fellow (Geotechnics/Geophysics)

About the role

The School of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Nanyang Technological University seeks a Research Fellow to curate and integrate geotechnical, geological and geophysical datasets, develop 3D models of near‑surface formations, and advance geophysical imaging methods for subsurface characterization. The position contributes to cutting‑edge research on sustainable built environment. The role supports the School’s mission to advance sustainable built environment research through innovative subsurface characterization.

Key responsibilities

• Develop novel 3D modeling algorithms for near‑surface characterization using curated geo‑data.
• Contribute to the development of intelligent geophysical imaging algorithms.
• Publish high‑impact research articles in leading international journals.
• Assist in the preparation and development of competitive research proposals.
• Support the supervision and mentoring of undergraduate and graduate students.

Required profile

• PhD degree in geotechnics, geophysics, or a related field.
• At least 2 years of relevant experience in geological modeling.
• Familiarity with related literature and software.
• Good written and oral communication skills.
