Research Fellow – Inflammation in Metabolic Disease

About the role
The Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine (LKCMedicine) at NTU is seeking a Research Fellow to investigate inflammation mechanisms in metabolic disease, with a focus on neutrophil extracellular traps (NETs) in diabetes. The role bridges basic science and clinical translation, aiming to discover novel therapeutic targets and diagnostic biomarkers.
Key responsibilities
- Perform animal experiments, including establishing mouse disease models to study NETosis in diabetes.
- Assist in breeding and maintaining specific mouse strains required for the project.
- Conduct in vitro assays and cell‑based experiments to investigate inflammatory pathways.
- Analyze and interpret experimental data, including human sample and patient data.
- Collaborate with bioengineers and clinicians to translate findings toward diagnostic and therapeutic applications.
- Present results orally and in written form to the research team and external partners.
Required profile
- PhD or equivalent experience in biomedical sciences, immunology, or a related field.
- Strong interest in target discovery and translational research for metabolic disease.
- Ability to work independently and as part of an interdisciplinary team.
Required skills
- Animal handling and mouse breeding.
- Establishment and use of murine disease models.
- In vitro assays and cell culture techniques.
- Data analysis of experimental and patient datasets.
