Research Fellow (Inorganic Materials)

About the role

We are seeking a Research Fellow to join the School of Materials Science and Engineering at NTU, working closely with NTU MSE and A*STAR researchers on improving resistance to hydrogen embrittlement in steels and nickel‑based alloys.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct research projects in collaboration with team members to meet deliverables.
• Assist the Principal Investigator in leading the hydrogen embrittlement (HE) research team.
• Develop and configure theoretical calculations prior to experimental work.
• Design surface‑treatment methods to reduce hydrogen uptake.
• Collaborate with internal and external partners on theoretical analysis and microstructure characterization.
• Train PhD students and contribute to grant writing.
• Maintain laboratory equipment, procure supplies and liaise with vendors.
• Prepare high‑quality reports summarizing research findings.

Required profile

• PhD in Materials Science and Engineering or a related discipline.
• Familiarity with computational materials science and macrostructure analysis.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
