Research Fellow (Mechanical Engineering)

About the role

The School of Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering at NTU is looking for a Research Fellow to help build thermal-flow engineering and bioengineering expertise within its research domain. The aim is to establish the research centre as world class, attract more industrial collaborators and enhance the academic excellence of NTU.

Key responsibilities

• Develop a new, robust numerical model using the lattice Boltzmann method to simulate flow and heat transfer with phase-change processes.
• Carry out a thorough numerical investigation of phase-change characterizations.
• Examine underlying physical mechanisms and propose relevant physical scaling laws.
• Plan and carry out experiments.
• Conduct high-quality research, write journal and conference papers, assist in student supervision and write the project report.

Required profile

• PhD in mechanical engineering or a related engineering field.
• Good record of publishing research papers.
• Strong interest in research, highly motivated, independent and resourceful.
• Good communication and writing skills and a team player.
• Deep learning expertise and experimental experience preferred.

Required skills

• Multiple-scale and multi-phase numerical modeling, with familiarity with lattice Boltzmann simulations.
• Rich coding skills in Fortran/C++ and high-performance computing.
• Good knowledge of fluid mechanics, heat and mass transfer and surface phenomena.
