Research Fellow – Musculoskeletal Health

About the role
The Research Fellow will lead mixed‑methods investigations into musculoskeletal injury risk and protective factors across occupational and community settings. Working within the Rehabilitation Research Institute of Singapore, the fellow will design, implement and evaluate exercise‑based pre‑habilitation programmes aimed at enhancing work performance and preventing musculoskeletal disorders.
Key responsibilities
- Design and conduct cohort‑wide studies using questionnaires, interviews and real‑time task observations.
- Collect multimodal data through motion‑capture systems, physiological and environmental sensors.
- Assess human performance using multidomain outcome measures and analyse quantitative and qualitative data.
- Develop, implement and evaluate exercise‑based pre‑habilitation interventions.
- Produce scientific reports, peer‑reviewed publications and practitioner‑friendly guidelines.
- Contribute to grant writing, stakeholder briefings and knowledge translation activities.
- Mentor junior staff and promote a collaborative research culture.
Required profile
- Ph.D. in Exercise Science, Physiotherapy, Kinesiology, Ergonomics, Occupational Health or a related discipline.
- Minimum 1 year experience in mixed‑methods research involving sensor‑based and qualitative approaches.
- Strong background in quantitative/qualitative analysis, ethics compliance and data governance.
- Willingness to travel for fieldwork, including environments involving motion (e.g., sea travel).
Required skills
- Proficiency in SPSS, Python, R or MATLAB for data analysis and visualisation.
