Research Fellow - Nanophotonic Scintillators

About the role

The School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering at Nanyang Technological University (NTU) is looking for a Research Fellow to pursue cutting-edge research in nanophotonic scintillators. The role focuses on simulations, design and performance of experiments using nanophotonic structures to improve scintillator performance for X-ray and high-energy-particle detection.

Key responsibilities

• Perform experiments using a time-resolved photoluminescence setup and related apparatus
• Develop a theoretical framework and run simulations with established software such as MEEP and COMSOL, and custom code in C++, Python and Matlab
• Lead papers and publish in high-impact journals
• Present at top-tier international conferences
• Assist in supervising graduate and undergraduate students
• Assist the Principal Investigator in writing grants and handling project logistics

Required profile

• PhD (or equivalent) in nanophotonics, scintillators or a related field
• Familiarity with Maxwell's equations, nanophotonic simulations and optical measurements
• Good written and oral communication skills
• Team player able to present results clearly in visual form
• Ability to work under pressure, independently and within tight deadlines, with strong organisation and attention to detail
