Research Fellow (Nonlinear Optics and Metrology)

About the role

The School of Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering (MAE) at NTU is recruiting a Research Fellow to work on optics, nonlinear optics, spectroscopy and metrology projects at the centre. The post holder works closely with the principal investigator (PI) and other team members on R&D, taking a key role in developing systems for bioimaging and metrology.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct and coordinate research within NTU and collaborating partners in line with the research strategy, under the supervision of the PIs and collaborators.
• Publish research outcomes in journals of international standing, and attend and present research findings and papers at academic meetings to raise the centre's external visibility.
• Draft research reports for the PIs and undertake specific roles and management functions as reasonably required by them.

Required profile

• PhD in Optical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Precision Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Physics or a similar discipline, with a background in optics, spectroscopy and instrumentation.
• Previous experience in optics, nonlinear optics, optical measurement technologies, spectroscopy, metrology and machine vision is desirable.
• Expertise in handling and maintaining high-power CW and pulsed laser systems, spectrometers, high-resolution cameras and delicate optical components is desirable.
• Good programming, optical instrumentation, automation and data processing skills are required.
• A proven publication track record is an advantage.
