Research Fellow – Photo(electro)catalysis

About the role

The School of Materials Science and Engineering at NTU Singapore is seeking a Research Fellow to advance photo‑electrocatalytic systems for solar‑driven fuel and chemical production. You will design and build artificial‑leaf devices and nanoparticle photocatalysts targeting water splitting, CO₂ reduction and oxidative organic transformations.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and optimise a dedicated photo(electro)catalytic characterisation platform, including a solar light simulator, potentiostat, custom PEC cell and gas chromatograph.
• Establish reproducible protocols for gas and liquid product quantification and benchmark devices under outdoor conditions.
• Fabricate perovskite and oxide photoelectrodes, as well as nanoparticle, quantum‑dot and nanocrystal photocatalysts.
• Maintain laboratory equipment, manage procurement and liaise with suppliers.
• Collaborate with internal and external partners on sustainable technology projects.
• Mentor junior group members and contribute to research reporting.

Required profile

• PhD in Materials Science, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Proven experience in perovskite or oxide photoelectrode fabrication, or in synthesis of nanoparticle/quantum‑dot photocatalysts.
• Hands‑on expertise in photo(electro)catalytic experiments and product analysis.
