Research Fellow – Plasma Physics for Fusion Energy

About the role

The School of Physical and Mathematical Sciences at Nanyang Technological University is seeking a Research Fellow to advance plasma‑physics research for fusion energy. You will focus on modelling boundary plasma turbulence and transport in tokamak edge and scrape‑off layer plasmas.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and apply three‑dimensional fluid turbulence models for tokamak edge and SOL plasmas.
• Run large‑scale simulations, analyse datasets, and quantify particle and heat transport.
• Validate and interpret simulation results in collaboration with internal and external partners.
• Document findings in scientific publications and technical reports.

Required profile

• PhD in Physics, Applied Physics, Plasma Physics or a closely related discipline.
• Proven record of scientific productivity with peer‑reviewed publications.
• Experience working in an international, collaborative research environment and willingness to travel.

Required skills

• Scientific computing and numerical modelling using Python, C, C++ or Fortran.
• High‑performance computing on Linux systems, including batch job submission and handling large simulation datasets.
