Research Fellow (Quantum Optics and Nanophotonics)

About the role

The School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering at Nanyang Technological University (NTU) is recruiting a Research Fellow to carry out experimental research in quantum optics, nanophotonics and light-matter interaction. The researcher will study and control collective and single-emitter light-matter interactions in advanced photonic structures, contributing to fundamental quantum science and future quantum technologies.

Key responsibilities

• Design, set up, conduct and analyse experiments in quantum optics, nanophotonics and light-matter interaction.
• Develop and operate single-photon spectroscopy, Hanbury Brown-Twiss (HBT), Hong-Ou-Mandel (HOM) and related optical spectroscopy measurements.
• Investigate collective quantum optical effects enabled by nanophotonic platforms, including superradiance, superfluorescence and quantum imaging.
• Study strong light-matter interaction in the single-emitter regime and the optical spectroscopy of nanoscale systems with embedded quantum emitters.
• Characterise photonic structures and quantum-emitter systems, keep rigorous experimental records and follow safe laboratory practice.
• Collaborate with EEE/NTU researchers and project partners, and contribute to publications, presentations, reports and research proposals.
• Mentor and train students and junior researchers in relevant experimental techniques.

Required profile

• PhD in Physics, Applied Physics, Photonics, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Materials Science or a related field.
• Strong experimental experience in quantum optics, single-photon spectroscopy, HBT, HOM and optical spectroscopy of nanoscale quantum-emitter systems.
• Experience with nanophotonic platforms, quantum emitters and light-matter interaction is desirable.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in an interdisciplinary research environment.
