Research Fellow (Ultrafast Spectroscopy)

About the role

The Quantum Magnonics and Spintronics (QMagSpin) Lab at the School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE), Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore, is seeking a Research Fellow. The role investigates collective quantum excitations in two-dimensional materials and heterostructures through nanoscale device engineering and advanced optical spectroscopy.

Key responsibilities

• Design and fabricate nanoscale heterostructure devices to engineer functional interfacial couplings.
• Develop novel experimental setups and measurement protocols for ultrafast optical, Raman and terahertz spectroscopy.
• Investigate the excitation, detection, propagation and control of magnons, phonons and other collective excitations.
• Perform low-temperature, magnetic-field-dependent and time-resolved measurements.
• Analyse experimental data, publish research findings and collaborate with students and research partners.

Required profile

• PhD in Physics, Applied Physics, Materials Science, Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Strong background in experimental condensed matter physics, quantum materials, optics or related fields.
• Hands-on experience in experimental instrumentation, measurement development and data analysis.
• Experience in ultrafast spectroscopy, nanofabrication, two-dimensional materials or low-temperature measurements is advantageous; entry-level candidates are welcome.

• Scientific programming in Python, MATLAB or equivalent tools.
• Ultrafast spectroscopy, nanofabrication, two-dimensional materials and low-temperature measurements.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication and collaborative skills.
