Research Scientist – Semiconductor Laser Diode

About the role

Temasek Laboratories at NTU is seeking a Research Scientist to lead projects on semiconductor laser diodes and related photonic technologies. The successful candidate will work in a state‑of‑the‑art cleanroom environment, driving innovation from design through to device characterization.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with research operations, including procurement of laboratory supplies, experimental setup, literature reviews, and establishment of safe work processes.
• Lead the fabrication, characterization, and analysis of semiconductor laser diodes.
• Support project‑related activities such as events, publications, proposal preparation, planning, monitoring, and reporting.

Required profile

• PhD or Master’s degree with at least 8 years of relevant experience in Electrical/Electronics Engineering, Materials Engineering, Applied Physics, Mechanical Engineering, or related fields.
• Hands‑on experience with cleanroom processes, optical mask design, and optical simulation tools.
• Strong academic writing skills for proposals, reports, and journal publications.
