Safety Officer – Construction Site

About the role
SMITECH Engineering is looking for an experienced Safety Officer to lead workplace safety and health (WSH) management on its M&E construction projects across Singapore. You will work closely with the Project Manager, Construction Manager, site supervisors and subcontractors to embed WSH requirements, drive compliance and foster a proactive safety culture on a 5.5‑day work week.
Key responsibilities
- Implement and maintain the project WSH system in line with statutory, client and internal requirements.
- Conduct regular site inspections, safety walks and compliance checks for M&E activities.
- Identify hazards, review risk assessments and ensure effective control measures are applied.
- Review safe work procedures, method statements, permit‑to‑work controls and high‑risk activities.
- Support incident reporting, investigations, root‑cause analysis and corrective actions.
- Facilitate WSH briefings, toolbox talks, safety inductions and site safety campaigns.
- Coordinate with subcontractors to ensure safety compliance, proper documentation and timely closure of observations.
- Monitor housekeeping, PPE use, lifting operations, work‑at‑height, hot works and confined‑space activities.
- Maintain accurate WSH records, inspection reports, training logs and audit documentation.
- Liaise with clients, consultants, authorities and internal stakeholders on WSH matters.
Required profile
- Registered Workplace Safety and Health Officer (WSHO) with MOM.
- Minimum three years post‑registration experience, preferably in construction, M&E or large‑scale projects.
- Strong knowledge of Singapore WSH regulations and construction safety practices.
- Proven ability to conduct site inspections, incident investigations and risk‑assessment reviews.
- Effective communication with project teams, supervisors, workers and client representatives.
