About the role
The Science Laboratory Technician will support science teachers and maintain both the laboratory and outdoor green learning spaces, ensuring a safe and well‑equipped environment for student experiments.
Key responsibilities
- Provide logistical and technical support to science teachers, assisting with preparation and maintenance of laboratory materials and apparatus for practical work.
- Maintain the school's outdoor green learning spaces through regular horticultural activities such as de‑weeding, plant pruning, fruit protection, harvesting, propagation, and replacement of plants, as well as servicing equipment like Vegepods and self‑watering timers.
- Ensure laboratory safety by adhering to risk‑assessment guidelines, maintaining proper housekeeping, and regularly checking safety equipment and fittings.
- Assist the Head of Science in managing inventory, placing orders, handling deliveries and invoices, and keeping departmental financial records.
- Perform any other duties assigned by school leaders, the Head of Science, or other designated staff.
