Scientist 2 (Synthesis) - Sequencing Reagents

About the role

Illumina's Advanced Science team is looking for a Scientist 2 (Synthesis) to join a multi-disciplinary research team working on new sequencing methods. The scientist plays a key role in developing sequencing reagents and consumables with the high performance, stability and robustness that customers require.

Key responsibilities

• Lead investigations and solve cross-functional problems with key stakeholders
• Plan and optimize research ideas that lead to new sequencing methods and chemistries
• Explore new technologies, troubleshoot and find creative solutions to current limitations
• Design, run, analyze and present experiments showing the feasibility of new technology with limited instruction
• Communicate clearly with colleagues and supervisors through oral updates, written reports and technical meetings
• Maintain lab equipment and supplies and keep the lab tidy

Required profile

• Proven track record in innovation, scientific creativity and scientific output in new chemistry, bioconjugates and material science
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in chemistry or materials science with 4+ years of related experience (highly desirable)
• Strong team player, attention to detail, self-starter with excellent verbal and written communication

Required skills

• Expertise in synthesis and analytical techniques for small molecules, nucleosides, nucleotides, oligonucleotides and/or peptides
• Excellent laboratory, experimental and organizational skills
