Security Engineer (Insurance, Singapore)

About the role

A temporary Security Engineer position in the insurance industry, based in Singapore and within the technology department. The role strengthens and maintains the organisation's security infrastructure and calls for a proactive approach to identifying and mitigating security risks.

Key responsibilities

• Implement and maintain security protocols and systems to safeguard organisational assets.
• Monitor and analyse security incidents and respond promptly to mitigate risks.
• Collaborate with internal teams to ensure compliance with security policies and regulations.
• Provide guidance and training to staff on security best practices and awareness.
• Evaluate and recommend security tools and technologies to improve system protection.
• Document security processes, incidents and resolutions for future reference.
• Support the technology team in implementing secure systems and applications.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in cybersecurity operations, security engineering, managed security services, infrastructure security or related technology risk functions.
• Proven expertise in implementing and managing security systems.
• Strong analytical skills to assess and address security vulnerabilities.
• Knowledge of compliance standards and best practices in the insurance industry.
• Familiarity with vulnerability assessment and penetration testing tools.
• Ability to work effectively within a technology-focused team and in a regulated financial services environment.

Required skills

• Practical experience with email security, IDPS, WAF, anti-malware, attack surface monitoring, certificate management, vulnerability management, SIEM/SOAR, endpoint security or cloud security controls.
• Understanding of cybersecurity principles, secure configuration, incident response, threat detection, access control, logging and security monitoring.
• Working knowledge of scripting or automation (Python, PowerShell, Bash or equivalent) is preferred.
