Senior 2D Artist

About the role

Level Infinite, Tencent's global gaming brand, is hiring a Senior 2D Artist for its internal creative studio (ICC). The role sits within the Art team under the Head of Art and is a hybrid craft position: a draughtsperson and designer who uses AI-assisted ideation, 3D tooling and a fluid 2D-3D workflow to deliver concept art and character designs for AAA titles. It is a creative lead role focused on key visuals, marketing content and mentoring.

Key responsibilities

• Create premium marketing art and character pieces that carry the creative vision of the projects.
• Lead visual development across characters, environments, props, key art and marketing moments, from rough ideation to polished, presentation-ready artwork.
• Define the look, silhouette and personality of characters, including design, costume, expression and storytelling.
• Integrate AI tools into the ideation and production pipeline to speed up exploration and variation generation.
• Use 3D tools to block out, kitbash, light and pose concepts before finishing in 2D.
• Produce clean design sheets, callouts and paint-overs that brief 3D artists, CGI and external vendors.
• Solve problems creatively when working from incomplete assets, loose direction or tight deadlines.
• Collaborate with the Head of Art and ICC leadership, mentor the wider team and keep up with creative technologies and game engines.

Required profile

• 6+ years of professional concept art or character art experience in Games, Film or high-end entertainment, with a range and originality.
• Exceptional artistic eye for design, composition, colour, anatomy and storytelling.
• Hands-on experience integrating AI tools into a creative pipeline (generative ideation, image synthesis, paint-over workflows).
• Comfortable using 3D tools for blocking, kitbashing, posing, lighting and presentation.
• Familiarity with Unreal Engine for look development, lighting and asset presentation.
• Strong creative problem solving, emotional intelligence and industry passion.

Required skills

• Adobe Creative Suite, especially Photoshop, with strong digital painting skills.
• 3D tools such as Blender, ZBrush, Maya or Marmoset Toolbag.
• Concept art and character design.
