Senior Business Development Manager - WeChat Payment

About the role

Tencent's Weixin Group (WXG) builds and operates the Weixin ecosystem, including Official Accounts, Mini Programs, Weixin Pay, WeCom and search, and offers solutions for intelligent upgrades across industries. This Senior Business Development Manager role leads the promotion and launch of WeChat Payment services with new and existing overseas merchants, expanding market reach.

Key responsibilities

• Spearhead the promotion and successful launch of WeChat Payment services with new and existing overseas merchants.
• Lead cross-functional collaboration by coordinating internal teams and external partners to ensure seamless integration and execution of payment solutions.
• Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including institutional service providers, regulators and financial institutions.
• Identify and pursue innovative business opportunities and strategic partnerships to strengthen WeChat Payment's value proposition in international markets.
• Export industry-specific solutions, set benchmarks and create best practices to increase market influence and brand recognition abroad.
• Analyze market trends, competitor strategies and customer feedback to refine business development approaches.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree or higher, with at least 3 years of proven business development experience, preferably in payments or fintech.
• Experience managing cross-border business development and partnerships.
• In-depth knowledge of the payments industry and the local overseas market environment.
• Fluency in English and Mandarin, able to communicate with international stakeholders and work with teams at HQ and across regions.

Required skills

• Strong business negotiation skills and ability to close high-value contracts.
• Ability to analyse business models and turn them into actionable strategies.
• Familiarity with WeChat Payment or other mobile payment systems is highly desirable.
