Senior Data Scientist - Agentic AI & Production Planning

About the role

Micron is looking for a Senior Data Scientist to turn complex production planning problems into AI/ML and agentic solutions. The role covers agentic AI development, RAG-LLM work, productionalization and engineering, and mentoring junior data scientists.

Key responsibilities

• Work with domain experts to turn production planning problems such as resource allocation and capacity planning into AI/ML and agentic solutions.
• Design and implement multi-agent systems for assembly and test planning and operation, including agent orchestration, tool-using capabilities, function calling and agent memory.
• Build monitoring, logging and observability for agentic systems.
• Identify data sources for RAG and develop retrieval strategies such as hybrid search, re-ranking and contextual compression.
• Write unit tests, implement guardrails, hallucination detection and output validation, and optimize performance, latency, token and cost efficiency.
• Mentor junior data scientists on code quality, system architecture and applied AI research.

Required profile

• Master's or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Data Science, Operations Research, Mathematics or a related quantitative field.
• 5+ years of industry experience in data science, with a proven track record in machine learning and statistical modeling.
• Hands-on experience in Generative AI/LLM projects; at least 2 years focused on Generative AI or LLM applications preferred.
• Preferred: prior experience building agentic systems, and knowledge of semiconductor manufacturing and planning systems (MES, SAP).

Required skills

• Proficiency in Python, with strong knowledge of LLMs, agents, machine learning and statistical techniques.
• Familiarity with Streamlit, dashboards and APIs.
• Google Cloud Platform, Git, Bitbucket, Docker, Kubernetes.
• Data visualization tools such as Streamlit, Tableau or Power BI.
• Agile, SDLC, JIRA, change and release management.
