Senior Data Scientist

About the role

NCS, an AI tech services company and subsidiary of the Singtel Group, is looking for a Senior Data Scientist in Singapore. The role tackles challenging data science problems by uncovering patterns in large datasets using statistics, machine learning and data mining. The data scientist works closely with business users, project managers and database engineers to build analytics algorithms that give actionable insights, and acts as a trusted adviser to clients on advanced analytics solutions. On regular workdays the candidate also serves as a Project Executive within NCS's project management team, supporting another project.

Key responsibilities

• Translate customer pain points into problem statements and architect analytics solutions
• Present results and learnings to technical and non-technical audiences
• Manage the full lifecycle of data cleaning, preprocessing, feature engineering, modeling and deployment
• Validate models with statistically sound justifications for selection and performance
• Build and deploy efficient, scalable advanced analytics models in production
• Design visualizations and dashboards to explain actionable insights
• Contribute to data architecture decisions and collaborate with project managers and leads on status reporting and solution evaluation
• Work in interdisciplinary teams using waterfall or agile methodologies
• Mentor peers and juniors and contribute to internal networks

Required profile

• Postgraduate degree in Mathematics, Applied Statistics, Business Analytics or equivalent
• 5 years' experience in advanced analytics delivery, or equivalent academic exposure for interns
• Ability to communicate complex quantitative analysis concisely and actionably
• Skilled in handling complex, high-volume structured and unstructured data

Required skills

• Supervised and unsupervised machine learning, feature selection and extraction
• Statistics, NLP, simulation and optimization
• Python or R, and Apache Spark or similar scripting language
• Data visualization tools such as Tableau, Qlik, Plotly or ggplot2
• Model deployment with Docker or Kubernetes
• Preferred: AWS, Azure, Cloudera, Hadoop, Spark, Storm, Pig, Hive, Mahout, DevOps tools, deep learning, graph database analytics, database modeling and data warehousing
